Robyn Gives First Look at U.S. Tour

Robyn has just come off the biggest 12 months of her 17-year career: Her Body Talk album cracked just about every best-of list, while her smash single "Dancing on My Own" earned her a Grammy nod. The Swedish pop star plans to keep the momentum going in 2011, with a 17-date U.S. tour that kicks off Saturday night in Portland, Maine — plus, top billed slots at festivals including Coachella in April and an opening gig on Katy Perry's Spring jaunt.

New Kids on the Block member Jonathan Knight has made his first public comments about being gay in an emotional post on the group's members-only blog. Knight, who was inadvertently outed by fellow '80s pop star Tiffany in a recent interview, says he came out privately two decades ago and feels no need to comment further about it in public.

"I have never been outed by anyone but myself! I did so almost twenty years ago," writes Knight in the post, titled "TO ALL MY FANS WHO HAVE EXPRESSED CONCERN." "I never knew that I would have to do it all over again publicly just because I reunited with NKOTB!

The Beatles Degree Gets Its First Graduate

Mary-Lu Zahalan-Kennedy has become the first person to graduate with a degree in The Beatles.

Liverpool Hope University launched the Master of Arts course ‘The Beatles – Popular Music and Society’ in 2009.
According to the University website the course is, “A unique opportunity to study in the city of Liverpool, home of The Beatles and with access to leading Popular Music academics and Beatles specialists, this MA is the only one of its kind in the UK and the world.” 

Pop singer Bruno Mars will plead guilty to a charge of possessing cocaine in Las Vegas last September and receive probation, among other sentencing requirements, according to a media report on Friday.

Clark County District Attorney David Roger told the Las Vegas Review Journal that Mars will be sentenced to a year of probation, pay a $2,000 fine, perform 200 hours of community service and attend drug counseling. Roger also said that if Mars is able to complete his sentencing without getting into further trouble, he can withdraw his plea and the case will be dismissed. The newspaper said that type of sentencing was common in minor, first-time drug possession cases.

Bret Michaels Released from Hospital After Heart Surgery

A Phoenix hospital says rock star Bret Michaels has been released.

St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center said Wednesday that Michaels left the hospital after undergoing a successful heart procedure.

A doctor who treated Michaels says the procedure to fix a hole in Michaels' heart produced excellent results and he expects the singer to return to normal activities in a few weeks.

Jay-Z Will Produce 'Annie' Remake Starring Willow Smith
Jay-Z has made a deal to co-produce a new movie based on the musical Annie with Willow Smith in the lead role. Jay-Z will produce the film in a joint venture with Overbrook Entertainment and Willow's parents Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith. The project is a natural for Jay-Z — he scored a hit by adapting a song from the musical into the single "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)" and Willow just recently signed a record deal with his Roc Nation label. It isn't that long ago since Korn last released an album, but news that the nu metal act are scheduled to hit the studio in April is sure to have fans excited at the prospect of new material. In 2010, the band released 'Korn III: Remember Who You Are', and although it had Korn III in the title, it was actually the bands ninth studio record.

This means that the next album will be the band’s tenth album, a cause for celebration. Not too many acts make it to releasing ten studio albums and Korn have battled through a lot to get to this stage. Fashion and trends have not always been with the band over the years but the act have never really bothered too much about what those outside the camp think of their music.

Ronnie Dunn from Brooks & Dunn has dropped a little bit of info on the new Don Henley solo album. He says he has been in the studio with Don and Alison Krauss.

'Sang on the new Don Henley record, Friday. Don, Allison Krauss and my unqualified self. I was in WAY over my head in that talent pool. Hope it came off to good. Also, Stan Lynch (Google that name...) another hero, was involved. Lucky me!,' Dunn wrote on Facebook.

Canadian Federal Watchdog Urges Agency To Reconsider Ban of Dire Straits Song

Radio stations are confused over ruling to ban 'Money for Nothing' from airwaves

Canada's broadcast regulator, the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission, has put pressure on the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council to reconsider its decision to ban Dire Straits' 1985 hit "Money for Nothing" from Canadian airwaves for including an anti-gay slur.

The CRTC received more then 250 complaints about the CBSC's decision to remove the song, which is a long-established staple of rock radio stations. Many of the complaints were understandably confused about the distinction between the two organizations: The CRTC is a federal watchdog agency and the CBSC is a non-government industry group set up by private broadcasters to set ethical standards.

Fans of Polish Death Metal band Behemoth will be delighted to know that front-man Nergal has been released from hospital after a 6 month battle with leukemia. The singer was diagnosed with the condition in August of 2010, which forced the cancellation of a series of gigs around the world. Amongst the canceled shows was a planned performance at the Finnish Sonisphere festival and an American tour scheduled for December.

Home beckons for Nergal

Internet rumours indicated the singer was in an extremely bad way with the condition but following chemotherapy, irradiation and a successful bone marrow transplant, the front-man has been allowed to return home.

The former Oasis frontman has told Q Magazine that a fan picked a flake from his scalp just after he performed a Glastonbury set, and then casually inhailed it thinking it was cocaine.

Liam revealed that as he's got the skin condition psoriasis he's prone to flaky bits.

"I've got bad skin. I've got psoriasis all over my f****** body. Everywhere except for me face. And every now and again on me head"

Fellow music superstars Prince and Madonna appear to have ended their decades-long feud.

The Material Girl, 52, was among the celebrities cheering on Prince's sold-out Tuesday show at NYC's Madison Square Garden. (Other A-listers in attendance: Jimmy Fallon, Donald and Melania Trump and an awestruck Leighton Meester, whom Prince serenaded onstage.)

During the show, an attendee reports that Prince, also 52, made a good-natured joke about the high price of Madonna's concert tickets. "I know I'm expensive!" he joshed, then making a friendly call-out to Madonna by name.

Alex Kirst, Iggy Pop/Nymphs Drummer, Dies in Hit-and-Run

Drummer Alex Kirst, a member of the Nymphs glam rock band who became a member of Iggy Pop's band, was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in the California desert. He was 47.

Cathedral City police say a white Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon struck Kirst, who was on foot, on Jan. 13. Sgt. Paul Herrera says someone spotted Kirst on the side of Date Palm Road at about 11:45 p.m. and called police, thinking the man was intoxicated.

Newly announced acts to perform alongside Eminem, Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire, Katy Perry and Cee Lo

Bruno Mars, B.o.B. and Janelle Monae have been added to this year's line-up of Grammy performers, an inside source tells Rolling Stone exclusively. They will join previously announced acts Eminem, Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire, Miranda Lambert, Katy Perry and Cee Lo Green at the February 13th ceremony, which will be broadcast live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Motley Crue front man Vince Neil will take a plea deal and serve two weeks in jail, as well as an additional two weeks of house arrest, after driving his Lamborghini drunk last summer in Las Vegas.

Neil has agreed to plead guilty to the misdemeanor of driving under the influence when he appears in court on January 26. Neil recognized that he had to take responsibility for his actions and released a statement through his publicist saying "I have recognized that you can't drink and drive at all".

R.E.M.'s New Song 'Mine Smells Like Honey'

"Mine Smells Like Honey," the first official single from R.E.M.'s forthcoming album Collapse Into Now, finds each member of the trio playing to long-established strengths.

Peter Buck's guitar parts alternate between the jangle of 1984's Reckoning and the crunch of 1996's New Adventures in Hi-Fi, while Michael Stipe sings some seriously inscrutable lyrics in a low, weathered grumble before launching into a sweeping chorus.

Katatonia entered their 20th year in 2011 and are celebrating with a number of shows across Europe. The shows are dubbed the "Last Fair Day Gone Night – An Evening With Katatonia tour 2011". Their plan is to play two hour sets split into two sections. The first section being the album 'Last Fair Deal Gone Down' played in it's entirety, and the second being a mix of other tracks - some old, some new, and some obscure never before played live.

As well as being Katatonia's 20th anniversary it is also the 10th anniversary of the album 'Last Fair Deal Gone Down', which really pushed the band into mainstream popularity. Katatonia are saluting the album by playing it live during their tour.

In addition to the regular tickets sold for the shows the band are also selling VIP tickets. The VIP access will allow fans early access to the show, an exclusive meet and greet with the whole band, and access to listen to the sound check and setup of the stage. Elton John and David Furnish's baby "shot out like a rocket" on the day he was born.

The couple ' who welcomed surrogate baby Zachary into the world on Christmas Day (25.12.10) ' rushed to witness the "dramatic" birth of their first child, which saw the obstetrician have to catch the infant in his arms.

Elton explained: "Suddenly, at 2.15am on Christmas Day, we were woken up. They said, 'Quickly! The baby's coming!' We went in and stood behind the bed. Then the top of the head came out and David said, 'My God, there's the head!'

Guessing the Coachella lineup has become somewhat of a spectator sport in recent years, with faux flyers popping up on the Net months before the dates are announced (April 15, 16 and 17 this year), each more fantastical than the next.

Naturally, this year's rumor mill is no different, and while the West Coast's premiere music festival has traditionally offered a mash-up of rock, hip-hop and electronic acts, it looks as if Saturday's bill is shaping up to have a distinct '80s theme.

Soundgarden are preparing some of their never before released live recordings from 1996 to make up their new live compilation album titled 'Live On I-5'. The 'I-5' in the title is a reference to the highway that spans the west coast of the US, and the cities where Soundgarden played these last shows. The live album will be released March 22, 2011.

The album comes on the back of the band's reunion last year to play shows after 13 years apart. Featuring many Soundgarden favorites, a couple of covers and the majority being previously unreleased material, die-hard fans are going to want to put this on their shopping list. The band intended to release this album years ago after the tour in '96, but due to their split up the material was left in storage and never put together.

Zonoscope, the new album from Australian dance rockers Cut Copy, is one of the most anticipated of 2010, and now they've announced a slew of North American dates to support the record's February 8 release. See the full itinerary below.

Rod Smallwood, co-manager of Heavy Metal legends Iron Maiden, has recently announced he is auctioning off some Maiden memorabilia for charity as he completes a 100 mile bike ride across Cuba. The items being auctioned are related to the band's most recent record 'The Final Frontier', as well as mixing-desk seats for the upcoming London O2 show.

French band's management say the two acts are 'in no way associated' with each other

Daft Punk's management have denied that the French band are linked to DJ's The Third Twin.

Rumours that Daft Punk members Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo have been covertly releasing music under the name The Third Twin have been circulating since mid-2010, although until now neither the band or their management have clarified the situation. However, following a press release from Spanish festival Arenal Sound Festival that implied The Third Twin were in fact Daft Punk, the duo's management denied all links, reports Billboard. They released the following statement:

The members of Cold Chisel, Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss, Don Walker and Phil Small have issued a statement to say they are shattered by the news of the death of their drummer Steve Prestwich.

Steve was diagnosed with a brain tumour two weeks ago and had an operation on Friday. He did not survive.
In a statement at the Cold Chisel website, the band posted the following:
"R.I.P. Steve.

Cold Chisel's drummer, Steve Prestwich, passed away Sunday afternoon. He was diagnosed with a brain tumour less than two weeks ago, underwent an operation last Friday, and never regained consciousness.

Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss, Phil Small and Don Walker are shattered by the loss. All our thoughts are with Steve's loved ones at this difficult time."
Steve Prestwich was 56. He was a founding member of Cold Chisel and also a member of Little River Band.
Steve wrote the Cold Chisel classics ‘Forever Now’ and ‘When The War Is Over’ and co-wrote ‘Flame Trees.

Cee Lo Flaunts His Acting Chops on 'SNL'

On last night's "Saturday Night Live," musical guest Cee Lo Green didn't just perform two songs from his 2010 "The Lady Killer." The rapper/crooner also showed off his acting chops, much to our delight.

After appearing in host Gwyneth Paltrow's monologue to perform "Islands in the Stream" with Paltrow and "Kenny Rogers," Cee Lo took a turn in this Bar Mitzvah skit. The sketch, also featuring Paltrow as Taylor Swift and Jay Pharoah doing a spot-on Jay-Z, finds the soul man performing his smash "F**k You" -- with an added Jewish twist!

Springsteen brought out "Thunder Road," "Adam Raised a Cain" and "The Promised Land" over the course of 90 minutes

Every indication pointed to "Twist and Shout" ending the evening. It was nearly 1:30 AM - seven hours into the annual Light of Day benefit concert in Asbury Park - and Joe Grushecky and surprise guest Bruce Springsteen had just wrapped up a blistering ninety-minute set. Afterwards they called all of the evening's performers back to the stage (including Willie Nile, Garland Jeffreys, Joe D'Urso, Jesse Malin, Alejandro Escovedo and the show's host, Vincent "Big Pussy" Pastore) for an epic, ten minute "Twist and Shout" that incorporated bits of "La Bamba" and some incoherent ramblings that Big Pussy yelled into the mic. When it wrapped people began putting on their coats to leave, but Springsteen asked his gutiar tech to bring him an acoustic guitar and harmonica.

The tracks 'Sudden Death' by Megadeth and 'Black Rain' by Soundgarden, which were both first released on the game 'Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock' are now nominated for Grammy awards. 'Sudden Death' is up for Best Metal Performance, while 'Black Rain' is nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance. These tracks are the first ever original songs written for a video game to be nominated for Grammy awards.

The Guitar Hero franchise has been insanely successful. The series has sold over 25 million units worldwide, earning Activision (the owner) over US$2 billion. Activision claim that it is the 3rd biggest franchise after the Mario and Madden NFL games. The third game in the series, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, is also claimed to be the first single video game to exceed US$1 billion in sales.

The glamour model has branded her cage fighting spouse of 11 months a 'fame hungry sponger' and reportedly banished him to a dressing room in her mansion in Surrey, Southern England.

Magnetic Man announce new single 'Getting Nowhere' feat. John Legend & NME Awards tour

'Getting Nowhere', featuring John Legend, is the new single from Magnetic Man aka Skream, Benga and Artwork. Fresh from a hugely successful 2010, which saw the release of their eponymous album smashing into the UK Album Charts top five, the Croydon three-piece are back.

'Getting Nowhere' is released on February 21st (Columbia). Filmed on location in London, the video - dropping very soon - features a cameo from John Legend and is an alternative take on the Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse, this time on two wheels rather than horseback. Watch out for remixes from Breakage, Yoruba Soul and Skream himself.

Bassist Micky Quinn says he's 'still on good terms' with ex-bandmates

Ex-Supergrass bassist Mick Quinn has said that he thinks the band will "probably" reform in the future.

The Oxford outfit split up last June, but Quinn has now said that he's still friendly with ex-bandmates Gaz Coombes, Rob Coombes and Danny Goffey and it's likely that they will hook up again at some point.

Lee Kernaghan, Sara Storer, Catherine Britt and more appear on a digital charity album to help flood-stricken Queensland.

For those who don't remember, Bang Tango was part of the 1980's Los Angeles Glam scene. They formed in 1987 and had a sophistication about them that set them apart from the typical Sunset Strip bands of that time.

Tame Impala Work On New Album

ame Impala say they “really really” hope to have a new album out in 2011. Undercover’s Haylee Cashmere spoke to Dom Simper and Kevin Parker from J Award-winners Tame Impala at the Falls Festival in Marion Bay, Tasmania.
Guitarist Kevin says they are writing “all the time”.
“We’re starting to put together the new album, slowly,” he says. “I have a studio at home so we can record all the time. We never have to book studio time or anything.”

“Ideas come at any time and thankfully with technology nowadays we can record while on the road or in a hotel room or on a plane.”
They were unsure about a release date for new material, Kevin saying “I really really hope so” to the possibility of a new album out in 2011.
“There’s all that stuff about taking a really long time for albums to come out, but goddamit it, I hope it comes out this year,” he laughs.

Canadian rap sensation Drake works with Brit musicians Florence Welch and The xx’s Jamie Smith.
NME reports that Young Money rapper Drake is taking inspiration from British indie types.

Smith told NME that he’s been in the studio with Drake working on material for the follow-up to the rapper’s breakthrough debut of 2010 Thank Me Later, which is currently going under the title of Take Care.
Drake told the BBC, “Jamie is probably one of the most exciting producers I've ever heard.”

The 'Love Story' hitmaker ' who dated Jake from October to December last year ' was reportedly dumped by the 'Love & Other Drugs' actor by telephone, leaving her 'upset and hurt' and unable to eat.

A source who saw the singer at the People's Choice Awards on January 5, said: 'She was not her usual bubbly, over-animated self.

'She didn't eat anything seemed very sad and definitely wasn't having a good time.'

Revitalised Welsh rockers Future Of The Left confirm new songs and a release date for album number three.

On the verge of the fifth show ever for the two new members ' bassist Julia Ruzicka and guitarist Jimmy Watkins ' Julia and frontman Andy 'Falco' Falkous from Future Of The Left step in for an extended, illuminating chat with Undercover.

The band have been putting new songs up online, and Falco confirms that 'Notes On Achieving Orbit' and 'I Am The Least Of Your Problems' will be on the next album.

Cavalera Conspiracy are currently preparing to release their new album which will be titled 'Blunt Force Trauma'. The album was recorded at Lair Studios in Los Angeles and according to lead guitarist Marc Rizzo - "We recorded everything at eleven on this record!"

The band recorded in the typical order of drums, then bass, guitars, solos and vocals. But for each instrument they recorded the whole band was in the room jamming through the track. This recording style tends to capture a more of a raw/live feeling as well as keeping each member pumped as they record their own parts.

The Big Pink have said that their second album will see them turning their backs on indie rock to make a "hip-hop record".

Multi-instrumentalist Milo Cordell, speaking in the new issue of NME, on UK newsstands now or available digitally, said that they were aware of the cliche of indie bands saying they were embracing rap, but that wasn't putting them off.

"A lot of white, middle class bands say, ‘We’re going to make a hip-hop record’, but we’re actually going to do it," he said.

Zakk Wylde is set for a cameo appearance this weekend in the popular Showtime TV series Californication. The episode, which is titled 'Suicide Solution' airs this Sunday, January 16 and is episode 2 of the shows 4th season. Wylde's roll in the episode is yet unknown, but the show features Hank (the main character), high on drugs and booze, I wonder if Wylde has anything to do with that?? Knowing the show no doubt Hank will get his stomach pumped to wake up to a pretty nurse who finds him irresistible.

Californication is starred by David Duchovny who plays a Golden Globe winning role as hedonistic novelist Hank Moody who struggles to raise his teenage daughter Becca (Madeleine Martin), while still carrying a torch for his ex-girlfriend Karen (Natascha McElhone). Duchovny is also well known for his previous role on The X-Files.

After taking 2010 off from touring, Kenny Chesney will return to the road in a big way in 2011 -- he just announced 41 new arena and amphitheatre dates on his Goin' Coastal Tour.

Gucci Mane's latest tattoo — an ice cream cone with three scoops and the word "brrr" across the right side of his face — has appeared all over the internet today. For the most part, people seem shocked and confused by the rapper's unusual decision, and some have questioned whether his recent stay in a mental health facility was a bit too brief. After all, the tattoo is rather extreme in its prominence, even for a guy whose body is mostly covered in ink and already had a few facial tattoos.

So what does the ice cream cone mean? According to Gucci's spokesperson Kali Bowyer, the image is "a reminder to fans of how he chooses to live his life. Cool as ice. As in 'I'm so icy, I'll make ya say Brr.'" Bowyer tells Rolling Stone that the ice cream cone design was also used for a medallion that Gucci has worn for years and can be seen in most of the photos making the rounds on the internet today.
