On January 31, 2011, Metal Mind Productions will re-release Bang Tango's "Psycho Café", "Dancin' on Coals", and "Ain't No Jive...Live". These albums are a must have for collectors since each release is limited to just 2,000 copies, and "Dancin' on Coals" will feature two bonus tracks.
For those who don't remember, Bang Tango was part of the 1980's Los Angeles Glam scene. They formed in 1987 and had a sophistication about them that set them apart from the typical Sunset Strip bands of that time.
Their first release was 1989's "Live Injection" followed up that same year with "Psycho Café". You may remember the single "Someone Like You" played on Headbangers Ball or on 105.5 KNAC. Bang Tango went on to release "Dancin' on Coals" in 1991, and "Ain't No Jive…Live" in 1992. These albums didn't do real well, commercially speaking, but they were good, strong albums. In 1994 they released "Love After Death", and it turned out to be the final nail in their coffin.
Different versions of Bang Tango have come and gone, but none have captured that special something that was there when all five original guys were doing it back in the day. If you like your Glam served up with a side of funk, then you will like Bang Tango. Even if you don't run out to grab one of the re-releases, you should at least give them a listen. I still consider them one of my all time favorite bands.
